The front of the benches is a high-traffic area. People sit on the bench to put on their shoes or take them off. They may also sit and wait for their turn, leaving scuff marks. The constant wear from shoes and people walking back and forth can cause the finish to wear away.

The basketball hoop is also a high-traffic area. Players run up to it to take shots or jump up to grab the ball when it goes through the hoop. This can cause scuff marks and scratches on the floor, as well as indents from the pressure of the jumps.

We make the first passing through the room by walking behind an orbital of rough sand. 36-grit is a common choice though 30 or 44-grits are available. It’s time to fix nails, holes, or gouges with wood filler. You can take a little sawdust from the initial grinding process and mix this with a bit of white glue. Use a putty knife to combine both ingredients until forming a paste-like consistency. Apply to the defective area.

We select an area, tape a section, then use a 120g grit screen and firmly sand the area. We can apply polyurethane using a brush, vacuum, and soaked cloth. We let it dry before using the scraper. Nothing sharply pointed. We can finish the rest of the floor if you are happy once it’s dry and has been gently scraped. If not, then we can get back to work!
